Muse is Meta's first consumer AI agent, launched in September 2026. It was developed under the internal codename "Hatch." Where Meta AI answers questions, Muse does the work for you. You tell it what needs to get done, and it browses the web, shops online, fills out forms, plans trips, sends emails, schedules events, and even monitors home security camera feeds. Meta pitches it as an agent for everyone: no technical experience needed and no learning curve. Behind a simple interface, it may be writing code or building its own integrations to finish complex, multi-step tasks.

Muse is a separate product from the Meta AI app. It has its own iOS, Android, and web apps plus a Mac desktop app, and AI glasses support is coming soon. You need a Meta account, but not a Facebook or Instagram account. It launched first in the US.

Key Features:

  • The Brain: It runs on Muse Spark, a multimodal reasoning model from Meta Superintelligence Labs (MSL). Muse Spark was introduced in April 2026 as the first model in the Muse family and is built for tool use, visual reasoning, and multi-agent workflows. The family also includes Muse Image, Muse Video, and Muse Code, a terminal coding agent that arrived with Muse Spark 1.2.
  • Muse Secure VM: Each agent works inside its own dedicated, isolated computer with its own browser, hosted on Meta's infrastructure. According to Meta, the agent never sees your actual passwords or payment details.
  • Integrations: It connects to third-party services like Google and Spotify. The desktop app can also work with local Messages, Calendar, and Notes.
  • Proactive Goals: It is designed to take on long-term goals as well as one-off tasks. It turns goals into action plans, suggests ideas, and learns from your conversations over time.
  • Personalization: Meta encourages you to rename your agent and pick an avatar for it.
  • User Control: You decide how much access Muse gets. Data controls in settings let you opt out of having your interactions used to train Meta's models.
  • Affordability: There is a free tier for most everyday use, plus paid plans at $20 and $100 per month depending on usage.

Muse is Meta's bet on "personal superintelligence": AI directed by each individual toward their own goals, rather than centrally automating all work.
