Wix AI refers to the artificial intelligence capabilities across Wix’s website creation and business management products. These include conversational website generation, design assistance, content creation, marketing support, customer communication, and tools for developers. It is an umbrella for several products and services, rather than a single application with one feature set or subscription.

Wix Harmony combines conversational creation with direct visual editing, with Aria serving as its AI assistant. Wix Studio provides a separate environment for professional website work, including responsive design and coding assistance. Business-facing tools include the AI Marketing Agent, Wix Smart Chat, and AI Phone Agent, while Wix Symphony provides a broader business-agent offering.

Review date: November 2, 2026. Availability depends on the editor, account, location, subscription, and product rollout. Wix has also replaced or restricted several earlier AI products, so older tutorials may describe tools that are no longer available to new users.

Wix AI connects conversational website creation with a hosted business platform; effective results still depend on choosing the right editor, verifying generated content, and testing the business processes behind the site.

Website Creation with Harmony and Aria

Conversational Creation and Visual Editing

Wix Harmony allows creators to describe a website, generate a starting design, and refine the result through conversation and direct editing. Aria can help create pages, revise content, adjust designs, and provide guidance about site structure, settings, SEO, and applications. This supports an iterative workflow: describe the desired result, inspect the generated page, then request specific changes or make them visually.

Harmony also includes an AI Element Generator for custom interactive elements. Such elements can extend a page’s presentation or interaction, but they should be evaluated individually for accessibility, mobile behavior, and correctness. A generated element is not equivalent to unrestricted access to the website’s application code.

Aria in the Dashboard

Aria also appears in the Wix dashboard, where its role extends beyond page design. Documented capabilities include assistance with dashboard navigation, CMS and business data, blog content, marketing plans, and operational tasks such as domains, payments, and automations. The available actions depend on the surrounding product and connected capabilities.

Developers can extend dashboard Aria through App Tools. This creates a distinction between asking an assistant for advice and giving it access to an application action. When an assistant can change business records, its permissions and the user’s review process become part of the application’s operational controls.

Harmony and Site Code

Harmony does not support full site code. Wix’s developer documentation distinguishes it from Wix Editor and Wix Studio: Harmony does not expose page or backend code, HTTP functions, routers, data hooks, backend events, web modules, or scheduled jobs. Embedded or custom HTML, JavaScript, and CSS snippets are a separate capability and should not be confused with these site-level programming features.

Existing code-enabled Wix Editor and Wix Studio sites continue in their respective environments. A project requiring custom backend behavior or extensive application logic should therefore establish its editor requirements before investing in a Harmony build.

Wix Studio: AI for Professional Website Work

Wix Studio combines visual website development with professional design and development workflows. Its AI tools assist with planning, responsive layouts, and coding, while leaving designers and developers responsible for the final implementation. These capabilities should be evaluated separately from Harmony because the environments have different editing and customization models.

Capability How it helps What to review
AI-generated visual sitemap and wireframes Turns business information into a proposed page structure and optional wireframes. Navigation, page purpose, business applications, and missing content.
Responsive AI Helps adapt sections or layouts for different screen sizes. Reading order, spacing, overflow, and behavior at each breakpoint.
AI assistance in the Studio code panel Helps develop frontend interactions and page code. Event handling, accessibility, data access, and error states.
AI assistance in Wix IDE Supports backend development, debugging, and work with Wix APIs. Permissions, validation, secrets, and failure handling.

Responsive AI is an editing aid rather than a guarantee that a site works on every device. Generated changes can be accepted, discarded, or refined, and repeated generation may change previous layout decisions. Testing the actual pages remains necessary, particularly for navigation, forms, and purchase flows.

Content, Images, and Brand Development

Wix’s broader AI toolkit includes assistance with website text, blog content, email copy, social captions, and SEO metadata. Image tools include generation, enhancement, background removal, object removal, upscaling, and image extension. These functions can reduce production time, especially when creating an initial site or adapting approved material for several channels.

Wix also offers business-idea, naming, and logo tools. Their output is best treated as a draft: a suggested business name may require availability checks, while a generated logo or image may need revision for legibility and suitability. Product photographs, staff portraits, customer quotations, and business claims require particular care because visitors may interpret them as factual representations.

Wixel is a related, separately presented creative platform for AI-assisted visual work, including images, logos, video, and documents. Its account entitlements and usage limits should be checked independently rather than assumed to be included with a website plan.

Marketing, SEO, and AI Search Visibility

AI Marketing Agent: Kleo

The AI Marketing Agent, also called Kleo, helps prepare and coordinate marketing activities across SEO, social media, email, and advertising. Its work can include marketing plans, keyword research, and proposed improvements to website pages, blog posts, and FAQs. Setup information such as business goals, target locations, brand voice, and excluded topics helps shape its recommendations.

Wix states that the agent requests approval before publishing generated content. Approved activities may subsequently run on their configured schedule, so reviewing a campaign includes checking its audience, timing, destination links, and business claims. AI generation allowances and channel-specific publishing or sending limits are separate considerations.

AI Visibility

AI Visibility provides information about how a business appears in supported AI-generated answers, including services such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity. Its reporting includes mentions, citations, brand perception, competitor comparisons, and AI-related traffic information. According to Wix’s documentation, access requires an eligible Premium site and at least 50 unique visitors during the preceding 30 days.

An important methodological limitation is that Wix generates the monitored questions; these are not a record of actual users’ search queries. AI answers can also differ between the dashboard’s checks and someone’s manual search. The feature is therefore a monitoring and investigation aid, not a guarantee of placement or a complete measure of how every AI system represents a business.

Customer Communication

Wix Smart Chat

Wix Smart Chat combines AI responses and human chat within one website communication tool. Its AI can use public website content and additional training information, while staff can manage conversations through Wix Inbox. A useful deployment begins with clear business information, approved answers, and a defined route to a human when the assistant cannot resolve a request.

Smart Chat replaces the earlier AI Site Chat product. Wix documents a trial allowance of 50 conversations before an upgrade is required. Its AI scans public information, which can include personal information published on a site, and its responses can be inaccurate. Wix also states that the AI Chat capability is not HIPAA compliant, so it should not be treated as interchangeable with separately configured manual-chat arrangements.

AI Phone Agent: Alfred

The AI Phone Agent, also called Alfred, answers incoming calls using website information and additional business knowledge. It can provide answers, generate call summaries, and send follow-up links by SMS. For example, it can direct a caller to a booking page; this should not be described as proof that it can independently complete every booking transaction.

Wix currently documents the service for US Wix users, in English, with a paid site plan. Full transcripts require Business or Business Elite. Calls consume AI credits according to duration, while SMS uses a separate messaging allowance; the agent’s virtual number cannot receive SMS. If credits run out, the agent stops answering normally and calls are marked as unhandled.

Symphony and Business Agents

Wix Symphony is a business-agent platform organized around Maestro and specialist agents. Its positioning extends beyond website creation to connected business activities such as customer communication, marketing, invoices, and scheduling. The practical scope depends on the tools connected to the account and the actions supported by those integrations.

An agent workflow should specify what the system may read, what it may change, and which decisions require approval. For example, preparing a proposed campaign is different from sending it to customers, and summarizing an invoice is different from authorizing a payment. This distinction becomes more important as several agents coordinate a process.

Developer Tools and Custom AI Applications

Coding Assistants, MCP, and App Development

Wix’s developer platform includes AI-oriented tooling for building and managing websites and applications. Documented components include Wix MCP access to documentation and API operations, skills and plugin integrations, coding assistants, and an AI App Builder associated with Wix CLI projects. These support developer workflows rather than eliminating the need to understand the resulting code and permissions.

For a custom integration, begin with the required business operation and identify the relevant Wix API. Then define authorization, inputs, validation, and recovery behavior before connecting an AI assistant. A generated interface can appear complete while its underlying operation still lacks necessary checks.

Wix AI APIs

Wix AI APIs provide programmatic access to capabilities such as text generation, embeddings, and image generation. The documentation identifies providers including OpenAI and Anthropic for text and Runware for images. Model availability is dynamic, so applications should use current documentation rather than assume a permanently fixed model catalog.

These APIs are documented as Developer Preview. Their use requires appropriate authentication and permissions, and billing depends on the application context. Embedding support can contribute to a custom retrieval workflow, but it is not by itself a complete Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) system: document preparation, retrieval, permissions, and answer evaluation remain application responsibilities.

Practical Example: A Local Service Business

The following is an illustrative workflow, not a claim that one prompt automatically configures every feature.

  1. Define the business. Prepare the real services, service area, opening hours, approved photographs, prices, and contact information.
  2. Choose the editor. Use Harmony when conversational and visual creation fit the project; evaluate Studio when custom code or professional responsive workflows are required.
  3. Generate the structure. Request a homepage, services, about, FAQ, and contact page.
  4. Configure business functions. Connect and test the actual booking, payment, and notification settings.
  5. Review the content. Remove invented credentials, testimonials, guarantees, locations, and unsupported claims.
  6. Add customer assistance. Train Smart Chat with approved information and define how visitors reach a person.
  7. Prepare marketing. Use the marketing agent to draft a campaign, then review its content, audience, links, and schedule.
  8. Test and publish. Check mobile layouts, keyboard navigation, forms, confirmations, and error handling.
  9. Monitor operation. Review customer questions, failed interactions, credit consumption, and business outcomes.

Example Website Prompt

Create a welcoming website for a bicycle repair shop serving one city. Include Home, Services, About, FAQ, and Contact pages. Use the business details and photographs I provide. Make the main action “Request a repair appointment.” Use clear headings, readable text, and a mobile-friendly layout. Do not invent prices, customer reviews, qualifications, or service guarantees. Where information is missing, ask for it or mark it for review. Explain which booking and payment settings still require configuration.

A useful follow-up request names a specific problem and desired result. For example, ask to simplify the service descriptions, improve contrast, or reduce the number of steps needed to reach the booking form. Evaluate the result against the business requirement rather than assuming that a successful generation means the site is ready to operate.

Hosting

Wix combines website subscriptions with product-specific usage allowances. Its public plans include Light, Core, Business, and Business Elite, with different storage, commerce, collaboration, and business capabilities. Prices vary by region, billing period, and offer, so a project budget should use the checkout price for the intended account. Wix-built sites run on Wix’s hosted platform and cannot be exported as a complete working site for hosting elsewhere. Ownership of supplied content is distinct from portability of the full site, applications, and runtime. Hosting Your Wix Site Elsewhere | Wix Explains the hosted-platform and export limitation.

Product Changes and Older Tutorials

Use current product documentation when following tutorials. The following distinctions were documented at the review date:

Earlier product Documented status Implication
Wix Vibe No longer available for creating new sites; existing sites can still be edited and published. Wix directs new creation toward Harmony.
AI Site Chat Unavailable for new installations from March 2026; replaced by Smart Chat. Follow current Smart Chat guidance and migration information.
AI Custom Agent Unavailable to new accounts from September 2026; existing users can continue using it. Wix points new users toward Symphony.
AI Front Desk Agent Support ended starting October 2026. Do not treat older demonstrations as evidence of a currently supported offering.

Evaluation and Responsible Operation

Evaluate Wix AI against the complete business process, not only the appearance of the generated homepage. A useful review includes successful form submissions, correct booking availability, payment confirmation, human escalation, and the behavior of services when usage limits are reached. Compare the time saved with the effort required to review content and maintain the site.

For AI-assisted communication, test ambiguous questions, outdated information, requests outside the business’s scope, and attempts to override the assistant’s instructions. Keep private material out of public training content and verify the permissions of connected tools. Record which workflows require a person’s approval and revisit those decisions when a tool gains new capabilities.
