The Chevy Equinox's HD Surround Vision feature uses multiple cameras to create a digital overhead view of the vehicle's surroundings:

  • Cameras - The Equinox uses four cameras to create the overhead view: one in the front grille, two on the side mirrors, and one in the rear.
  • Image processing - The cameras feed video signals to an image-processing program in the vehicle's computer. The program analyzes and combines the images to create a synthetic, top-down view.
  • Display - The overhead view is displayed on the vehicle's infotainment system. The display may also show the front or rear camera view in addition to the overhead view, depending on the vehicle's gear and speed.
