An AI companion is a virtual friend powered by artificial intelligence. These companions are designed to provide users with someone to talk to and interact with, helping to alleviate feelings of loneliness and boredom. These AI companions use advanced natural language processing and machine learning algorithms to understand and respond to user input, allowing for engaging and realistic conversations. They can also learn from user interactions, developing their own unique personalities and memories over time. From televisions to smartphones, artificial intelligence is making a greater impact in our lives. The popular app Replika allows users to share their feelings with an AI companion, or Chatbot. Seven million people use the app when they need someone to talk to. Technology reporter Laurie Segall, who messaged with her bot for three months, joins "CBS This Morning" to discuss her experience. Segall is also the founder of Dot Dot Dot Media, a news and entertainment company. Millions are connecting with AI companions | CBS News

An influencer created an AI version of herself that can be your girlfriend for $1 a minute. She says it could earn $5 million a month.
Caryn Marjorie, a Snapchat influencer, has launched a voice-based, AI-powered chatbot of herself. Subscribers will be able to pay $1 per minute to chat with CarynAI, which uses OpenAI's GPT-4 API. Marjorie anticipates being able to earn up to $5 million a month from it, per Fortune. Caryn Marjorie, 23, has more than 1.8 million followers on Snapchat. But her virtual copy — an AI-powered, voice-based chatbot called CarynAI — already has more than 1,000 paying subscribers. Fortune was the first to report on CarynAI, a chatbot that was described as a "virtual girlfriend" and charged users $1 a minute to chat with it. CarynAI launched as a beta test earlier this month and generated $71,610 in revenue in about a week, almost entirely from men, Fortune reported, citing an income statement provided by the influencer's business manager. According to CarynAI's website, more than 2,000 hours were spent designing and coding the real-life Marjorie's voice, behaviors, and personality into an "immersive AI experience," which it says is available anytime and feels as if "you're talking directly to Caryn herself." It used now-deleted videos from Marjorie's YouTube channel and layered it with OpenAI's GPT-4 API technology, Fortune reported. yahoo!news

The story of Replika, the AI app that becomes you
Replika is a Chatbot that creates a digital representation of you. It's strange and fascinating -- but the story behind it is even better. Eugenia Kuyda’s best friend died in 2015. Using a Chatbot structure she developed, she entered their messaging history into a Google-built neural network, creating a bot she could interact with. It was the earliest version of Replika, a bot that, as you interact with it, turns into a digital representation of you.
