With advances in machine learning, we now stand a chance to decode communication in non-human animal and plant life, which has fascinated humans for millennia. Cutting-edge technology can be used to benefit not only humankind, but other species on our planet, to better understand and protect the life around us. To make this possible, one needs to bring together and build on the latest discoveries of experts in disparate fields, including machine learning, signal processing, data science, linguistics, and acoustics. The goal of the workshop is to explore the challenges and current state-of-the-art in the study of non-human species communication as well as disciplines and technologies that are likely to provide solutions to these challenges. Animal Translators

Translator - Saturday Night Live (SNL)

Three scientists (Scarlett Johansson, Kyle Mooney, Mikey Day) receive a shock when they debut their invention, a machine that translates for pets.

Dr. Dolittle

Doctor John Dolittle is the central character of a series of children's books by Hugh Lofting starting with the 1920 The Story of Doctor Dolittle. He is a physician who shuns human patients in favour of animals, with whom he can speak in their own languages. He later becomes a naturalist, using his abilities to speak with animals to better understand nature and the history of the world. Doctor Dolittle | Wikipedia
